Product Availability
Generally, the telescopes, binoculars, and accessories featured are all that I have available for sale. If you are purchasing a telescope from me and need accessories or parts not featured I can usually acquire them for you at discount. If you have not purchased a telescope from me before and are looking for discounted parts not featured, I probably will not be able to help you.
JapanAstro does not normally sell any products that have onboard electronics. This includes all computerized mounts and cameras. Also, some items such as large aperture telescopes and most GEM mounts are not possible to ship economically by air.
Pricing
All prices are in U.S. Dollars and are based on normal Yen/Dollar exchange rates. Unless otherwise noted, all prices are negotiable! All reasonable counteroffers are welcome. Once your offer is accepted, no further price negotiation is possible and arrangement for payment within 48 hours is expected.
Payment
Payment in U.S. Dollars by Paypal or direct wire transfer to my U.S.-addressed accounts are the only acceptable payment methods. Checks of any kind or Western Union drafts are not acceptable.
Unless previously negotiated, all payment transfer and/or FOREX fees are your responsibility. Typically these fees run 3-4% for Paypal and $25-$50 for wire transfers. In the case of wire transfers, your bank may use a third-party correspondent bank to complete the transfer. Any correspondent bank fees deducted from the agreed purchase price amount during the transfer is also your responsibility.
Generally for payments up to $2,000, using Paypal will be cheaper and is the preferred payment method. For payments over $2,000, direct wire transfer will usually be cheaper but takes 3-5 business days to clear. JapanAstro reserves the right to decide which method of payment to accept from you. This decision will be based on our previous business dealings and on your profile in public online astronomy-related forums.
Once a deal for a telescope, binocular and accessory has been finalized, arrangement for payment within 48 hours is expected. If payment arrangements are not made within the alloted time and I do not hear from you, your items may be resold to another buyer at my discretion.
Shipping
JapanAstro ships WORLDWIDE! All telescopes binoculars are shipped by postal Express Mail Service (EMS) 3-5 day service. Since delivery is usually to your door, a physical street address is required. Orders shipped postal EMS cannot be delivered to a PO Box. Items other than telescopes and binoculars may be shipped by an alternative method. JapanAstro will not ship telescopes and binoculars by regular airmail or seamail service.
Postal EMS is reliable, insured, traceable and is my preferred carrier. If you prefer a private carrier such as FedEx, UPS, or DHL you must have established an account with your preferred carrier that I can bill shipping costs to on pickup. Note these private carriers can be two times more expensive than postal EMS and may also charge Customs brokerage fees. All the required shipping and Customs clearance documents for your country will be processed by JapanAstro.
If your package appears to have suffered shipping damage, please attempt to open it in the presence of the delivery agent to verify the contents are not damaged. Having a digital camera handy to take pictures to document any damage always helps with any shipping insurance claims. If a claim must be made, your full cooperation will be needed to for us to receive indemnity.
Customs Duties
Buyers are always responsible for any Customs Duties your local government may require. Telescopes and accessories shipped to the U.S.A. generally do not incur Customs Duties! Most other countries will attempt to bill you for Customs Duty. If you are concerned about Customs Duty please contact JapanAstro prior to purchasing a telescope or accessory.
Warranties
Most telescopes and accessories sold by JapanAstro are pre-owned and do not carry a manufactures warranty. Items sold as Factory New usually do not have a valid manufactures warranty outside of Japan.
That said, JapanAstro guarantees your telescope and accessories will arrive in the condition described and will be in good working order. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, contact me within 14 days of delivery and I will try to make it right. If I cannot repair or replace the item, you may be able to return it to JapanAstro and receive a refund at my discretion.
